Oral Surgery
Oral surgery covers a wide range of procedures involving the teeth, mouth and jaws. We will always try our best to save a tooth with a filling, crown, root canal or other treatment if possible. However, sometimes a tooth is too badly damaged and extracting the tooth may be the only option to prevent further problems.
A tooth extraction may be simple or complex, depending on whether the tooth is impacted. A simple extraction does not require surgery and is usually performed under local anaesthesia injection to numb the tooth.
If a tooth is impacted or stuck in the gum, we may need open the gums to remove it. Sometimes this may even require referral to a specialist surgeon to perform the surgery under intravenous (IV) sedation or general anaesthesia.
